Centaline Club: A Multifunctional Showcase of Hong Kong Real Estate

Clubhouse Design

Make from urban grid of bird view city pattern is the surprising focal point of Centaline Club. The ‘MAP’ to create wall patterns and form inspire from HK’s architecture. Centaline Club design begins at the lift lobby, which is clad in an aggressive mixture of finish materials that confront you step out of the lift. Marble flooring with lively patterns, a segment of wall in gold-toned metal featuring a two-dimensional relief forward and back as of the city were experiencing a small earthquake.

Centaline is one of Hong Kong’s largest property agencies, with agents placed strategically in offices all over the city. Centaline Club is essentially a multifunction room built for gatherings of agents and clients, in which Centaline can showcase new projects, upcoming real estate events, or specialist exhibits. The design of Centaline Club is unique and stands out from other real estate offices.

The design of Centaline Club is characterized by its use of materials and patterns. The space features stainless steel walls with wave and regular patterns that form a bird's eye view of an urban map. The ceiling of the main room is covered in carpet, creating a whimsical inversion of grass. The combination of coffee-toned wood veneers, loud marble flooring, polished metals, and bright carpeting with different patterning creates a unique and visually striking atmosphere.

The design of Centaline Club presents a nod to the city's property past, with materials that were once synonymous with real estate value. The use of marble, veneers, and shiny metals represents real estate success and adds a touch of nostalgia to the space. Despite the various materials used, the design successfully avoids a dated aesthetic and instead creates a contemporary and sophisticated environment.

The challenges faced during the design and production of Centaline Club were numerous. The double-layered ceiling structure presented difficulties in fixing the carpet, while the creation of the 3D lobby wall and bird's eye view feature wall required extensive research and attention to detail. The design team had to sift through over a thousand bird's eye view photos of Hong Kong to find suitable street patterns to incorporate into the wall design.

Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, Centaline Club spans 350 square meters and was realized through the collaboration of Plotcreative Interior Design Ltd, Oscar Chan, and Sandy Lai. The design team conducted extensive research, including hiring drones to capture bird's eye view photos of the city, to create a space that is natural, comfortable, and visually captivating.

Centaline Club has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2018, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Centaline Club's design integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
